Materials & Care Guide
Most Harry & Kate Co. jewellery is made from sterling silver, gold-plated brass or stainless steel, set with cubic zirconia or natural stones. Each product page lists the exact material — check there first, since care differs by metal.
Sterling silver
Sterling silver can tarnish over time when exposed to air, moisture and skin oils. Store pieces in an airtight bag or a lined jewellery box, remove them before swimming, showering or applying perfume, and polish occasionally with a soft, silver-specific polishing cloth to restore shine.
Gold-plated jewellery
Gold-plated pieces have a thin layer of gold over a base metal, so the plating can wear thin with heavy use, moisture or friction. To make it last longer, put gold-plated jewellery on last (after perfume, lotion and hairspray), take it off before washing your hands or swimming, and store it separately from other jewellery to avoid scratches.
Stainless steel
Stainless steel is naturally resistant to tarnish and rust, making it a durable, low-maintenance option for daily wear, including for sensitive skin. Clean with a soft cloth and mild soap if needed.
Hypoallergenic options
If you have sensitive skin, look for stainless steel or solid sterling silver pieces rather than gold-plated or nickel-containing designs, and check the material listed on each product page before buying.
General storage tips
Keep jewellery dry, out of direct sunlight, and separated piece by piece to prevent scratching and tangling. Remove jewellery before sleeping, exercising or doing housework to extend its lifespan.
